Translation: "Why Should We Forge a New Bond?"

Why should we, with trembling hearts, forge new ties,
When destined parting looms, why should we vie?

In silence we perform the rituals of despair,
Why stir the heavens with uproar, why should we dare?

It suffices that enmity we do not pursue,
Why lay claim to faithfulness, what’s to ensue?

Loyalty, devotion, and love, a costly plight,
Why chase these words, so fleeting in the night?

Whisper of Maryam’s sacred tale, profound,
Yet why linger here, where echoes are bound?

Zulaykha’s story, of barter and of loss,
Why engage in such deals, at what cost?

Why should our own desires be the quest?
And why pursue yours, as though they were blessed?

What of the vows made in fleeting minutes’ grace,
Why uphold them through life’s endless chase?

Why not cast away all things so drear?
Why confine ourselves to silence, held dear?

What we inherit, from lineage frail,
Why gather it all, as though it’s of great scale?

If the world shows no care for our fate,
Why concern ourselves with its state?

If bare we must walk through the market’s gaze,
Why hide from the blind, what is our praise?

We dwell in the same realm, should trust be in vain?
Why doubt ourselves, when doubt’s but a chain?

Why not consume our own crafted form?
Why provide to others, in the storm?

Let men’s corpses rest in the quiet earth,
Why lighten the burden of its worth?

This town is for the faithful's kin,
Why engage in the Messiah’s work within?
