It involves internalizing external influences, such as parental values or the attributes and values of authority figures like therapists. However, it is important to differentiate between positive forms of introjection and negative examples. Positive Forms of Introjection: In positive instances, individuals selectively incorporate values and standards that align with their personal growth and well-being.
